Shwetha Menon has acted in mainstream feature films, commercial and art films, documentaries and music videos in Hindi, English and many other Indian languages. She began her career at the age of 13 acting as female lead in Anaswaram in Malayalam, opposite Mammootty. Few more roles later, she took up modelling and beauty pageants seriously. From Ms Coimbatore, she grew in confidence and went on to compete for Ms India.
She was crowned second runner up after Sushmita and Aishwarya. Soon came the Bollywood calling; her first appearance on the silver screen was in Ishq in Hindi and later, as one of the leads in the super hit, Bandhan.
Her acting career took a serious turn when she got some meaningful roles in Malayalam around 2006. In 2009, she won her first Kerala State Government Award for the best female lead for Paaleri Manikyam. In just under two years, she repeated the feat with Salt and pepper, a romantic comedy. Besides Filmfare in 2009, she has been bestowed with nearly 40 awards and honours.
At present, she is completing Nawal the Jewel and Badal in Malayalam and She in Telugu besides shooting for a film, Inayathalam, directed by Shankar and Suresh in Tamil.
